Strategic Planning

SSG feels it is critical that any technology solution is tied to corporate goals. The purpose is for senior management to reach consensus on "where we are?"- "where do we want to go?" and "what are the priorities to get there?" Industry dynamics, competitive position, customer requirements, technology trends and other issues are used as the basis to develop or refine the clients mission statement, associated long term strategic goals, the near term (12-18 months) list of projects that must be completed to reach these goals and the priorities for the underlying business processes that support their achievement. SSG has extensive experience in leading the strategic and IT planning process and is available to facilitate these discussions or offer full strategic planning implementation services.

Process Improvement

Using the prioritized list of critical business processes an "enterprise level" map of each process is completed and recommendation for changes is made. While this is very much at the macro stage many times low hanging fruit is found where productivity improvements can be made quickly with low or frequently no investment in technology required. The next step drills down and involves facilitated sessions with the clients functional IT teams. Detailed process maps are created and supported by quantification of work production cycle times. Handoffs and identification of bottlenecks as well as opportunities for consolidation. Recommendations will encompass the full range of process improvement opportunities including modifications to existing processes, complete reengineering, introduction of performance metrics and employment of new technology. The objective is to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

Project Management

IT projects to improve targeted process improvement efforts start with full business requirements documentation including business goals, use cases, technical requirements, risk mitigation, resource forecasting, change controls, project communication plans and delivery requirements. SSG believes that if you can't document and measure it, you can't manage it. Our project management methodology is developed to assure coordination among all levels of client management and functional personnel is detailed, organized and quality focused. While experienced in PMI, Sigma Six, Microsoft MSF standards, etc. each project management assignment is designed to fit individual customer timing and budget requirements.
